Android Remove SOS From Lock Screen
If you’ve ever accidentally pressed the emergency call button on an Android device, you know how annoying it can be. Fortunately, it’s not hard to disable this button and remove it from your lock screen.
You can do this by installing a third-party app on your phone. It’s best to choose a safe replacement app from the Google Play Store.
Emergency SOS
If you use an iPhone, you might know how easy it can be to accidentally activate the Emergency SOS feature that calls emergency services automatically when your phone is locked. That’s not something you want to happen, so if you’re worried about triggering this inadvertently, here’s how to disable it.
On an iPhone 7 or later, hold down the side button and one of the volume buttons until you see the Power Off, Medical ID, and Emergency SOS sliders appear on the screen. For an iPhone 8 or later, continue holding down the side button and Volume buttons until a countdown begins and an alert sounds, then drag the Emergency SOS slider to the right to call 911.
You can also turn on Auto Call, which will let you place an emergency call without touching the screen or slider. To do that, open the Settings app and tap Emergency SOS. Then toggle the slider next to “Call with 5 Presses” and “Call with Hold” to the right (“on”) or left (“off”).
Medical information
In the event of an emergency, it’s good to have your medical information easily accessible on your phone. This information, including your name, blood type, allergies, medications, address, and medical notes, can be accessed by paramedics or other emergency service staff members who have your smartphone.
In this way, you’ll be able to get help immediately and avoid potential complications. To set up this feature, simply access your phone’s settings and scroll down to the Safety & Emergency option.
Then, you’ll see a toggle switch that says “Show when locked.” Tap this to enable the option. Then, you can enter all your emergency information and test that it’s stored securely.
Car crash detection
Car crash detection is a great safety feature to have on your phone. It uses your location, motion sensors, and audio to detect if you have been in a crash.
It then asks you to tell it if you’re fine or not, and if you don’t respond it will call emergency services on your behalf. It’s a great way to get help if you can’t pick up your phone yourself.
To activate it, you’ll need to head to the Personal Safety app and tap the settings cog in the top left corner. From there, scroll down to the Car crash detection section and toggle it on.
If you don’t want the feature to be displayed on your lock screen, you can remove it by going to the same settings page and pressing Delete. This should also allow you to add medical information and your emergency contacts to the list of info that will be shown on the screen when it’s locked up, so that first responders can reach out to you without having to unlock your phone.
Emergency contacts
Many people want to ensure that their emergency contacts and medical information are available for a first responder to access in case of an emergency. This can be helpful in a number of situations, from a car accident to a mental health crisis.
There are a few ways to do this on Android phones. For instance, you can add your emergency contacts and medical information through the Contacts app.
Another option is to create a custom lock screen image with your ICE number in one corner. This will work on most devices and will display your ICE number when the screen is locked.
This can be a useful feature if you are going on vacation and leaving your phone behind. This can also be a handy tool to have in the event of a medical emergency, as it will provide critical information that can help you get back on your feet quickly.
