Agility Labs
Located in Bostonās South End, Agility Labs provides the space, support, and community for emerging life science and medical-device companies to transform scientific discoveries into breakthrough products. Founded by Triple Ring, an established provider of outsourced research and development services in Silicon Valley, the new lab offers space, engineering support, and access to the seed-funding community for early-stage companies that want to expand their businesses and innovation capabilities in Massachusetts.
The goal of Agility Labs is to conduct hands-on, creative experiences that leverage a proven framework and strengths assessments to help teams develop creative solutions for real problems and build high performance. Participants engage in a series of workshops and agility labs designed to shape a culture where people love to work, where top talent thrives, and where they utilize their strengths as a team.
Using this framework, we explore the relationship between nature-driven agility and cleaner food production, in the context of the agri-food industry. We find that nature-driven agility strengthens the bond between cleaner food production and agri-food firmsā management commitment to environmental sustainability.
Co-Development
Co-development is an innovation strategy where two companies work together to create a product or service that would be impossible for one company to do alone. In this type of collaboration, the two parties must communicate openly and collaborate seamlessly.
As such, a proper collaboration process and any required systems must be in place to ensure a smooth collaboration. Otherwise, it can be detrimental to the relationship between the parties if any communication or collaboration hiccups occur.
Similarly, corporates may want to impose exclusivity clauses in such co-development relationships to protect their investment. However, such clauses often limit the startup’s long-term development goals, including potential product diversification.
It is therefore important to carefully review the terms of a co-development agreement to determine whether it will benefit your business. This includes understanding the conditions regarding intellectual property and planning for dissolution of the partnership.
Manufacturing
Manufacturing is the process of transforming raw materials or components into finished goods for sale. It is one of the most important sectors of the economy, contributing trillions of dollars to world trade annually and employing millions of people.
Today, manufacturers use technology to make their operations more efficient. Advancements in artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics are making the manufacturing industry more data-rich and responsive to market demand.
The manufacturing industry is made up of many different types of businesses. From automotive to electronics, and everything in between, manufacturing companies transform raw materials into products that are sold or used in our everyday lives.
There are three main forms of manufacturing: Make to stock (MTS), make to order (MTO) and make to assemble (MTA). With MTS, manufacturers build products based on forecasted demand.
Regulatory Affairs
Regulatory Affairs specialists work in a variety of industries, but they all share one common responsibility: ensuring that products meet all the quality attributes required by customers and regulators. This includes safety, efficacy and purity.
A career in Regulatory Affairs can offer a wide range of opportunities and a path to leadership. Many regulatory affairs professionals start in the field with an undergraduate degree in life science, clinical science or public health, but an advanced degree is often needed to move into more senior roles.
Regulatory affairs specialists are responsible for managing the entire drug development process from start to finish. They oversee each step to ensure a product meets the requirements of the Food and Drug Administration, as well as all other regulations that may apply to its use.
