Founded in 1957, ACLD is a leading Long Island-based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency serving the needs of children and adults with learning and developmental disabilities. It provides opportunities for people to pursue enviable lives, promote independence and foster supportive relationships within the community. ACLD operates Long Island’s largest Supported Employment program, working with job-seekers and employees to match them with employment opportunities at one of more than 100 companies across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. In addition to its programs, ACLD also offers information and referral services for families of people with special needs and a Community Trust that provides families with two options to safeguard assets for their loved ones without jeopardizing their eligibility for government assistance.
