Graver Technologies
Graver Technologies designs, manufactures and markets a wide array of products used to efficiently remove particulate and soluble contaminants from a variety of fluids. These include adsorbents, industrial air and gas filters, ion exchange resins and liquid filter cartridges.
Their patented MetSorb(R) heavy metal reduction filtration product is used worldwide for water treatment. They also offer a variety of filtration solutions for the Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical and Power Gen industries.
Liquid Process Filtration
Liquid process filtration, or LPF, is a type of industrial filtration that separates solids from fluid streams. This can be a critical step in many industrial processes, including manufacturing products such as beverages and drinking water.
The filter medium contains tiny holes or pores that allow the flow of liquid and also capture solids. Oversized particles, such as dust and suspended debris, cannot pass through the pore structure. They accumulate on the filter mediumās surface and form a layer known as the filter cake.
Graver Technologies has a variety of liquid process filtration systems for a wide range of applications, including chemical, food and beverage, healthcare, microelectronics, and more. Our selection includes resin bonded, melt blown depth, and polypropylene pleated filter cartridges. We also offer membrane filters, including PES and PTFE membranes.
Air Filtration
Air filtering, or AF, removes particulate contaminants that can cause breathing problems, eye irritation, asthma and other health issues. It also prevents lint and debris from blocking heating/cooling coils and reduces allergens.
Air filters use fine openings in their filtration medium to draw unclean air to the upstream side of the filter medium and capture unwanted particles larger than those openings. These are the particles that cause health and safety concerns including smoke, odors, chemicals, bacteria, viruses, paint, and outdoor pollen.
Filter media is made from a range of materials that vary in their ability to trap particles. They include non-woven fibrous media (primarily in Europe and Asia), synthetic polymer fibers, and granular material such as metal or ceramic powders.
Particle size and electrostatic attraction are the most important factors for particle capture by non-woven fibers, but gravitational settling may also contribute. Gravitational settling increases collection efficiency for particles of all sizes. However, it is less effective for nanoparticles.
Nitric Acid Filtration
Nitric acid, or HNO3 (hydrogen nitrate) is used for the production of fertilizers and as an intermediate in the manufacturing of urea ammonium nitrate and calcium ammonium nitrate. It is also used to produce explosives, pigments, rocket fuels and polyurethane foams.
Nitric Acid is a mineral acid that combines with water at a maximum azeotrope of almost 68 wt% and a boiling temperature of 120 deg C at ambient pressure. Due to its high strength, nitric acid is required for numerous applications in the chemical industry and many other fields such as food, pharmaceuticals and metals treatment.
Nitric acid is rectified with sulfuric acid to produce high-concentration nitric acid which is used for further processes. Sulfuric acid extracts water from the bottom of the nitric acid concentration unit and must again be re-concentrated before being fed into the process stream.
Water Filtration
For over 65 years, Graver technologies has designed and manufactured water and wastewater treatment equipment for utility, industrial, and municipal applications. Founded in 1880, the company originally supplied water treatment to power generating plants and chemical processing facilities.
Today, Graver Technologies serves the filtration, separation and purification needs of a diverse customer base around the world. Their products include adsorbents, industrial air and gas filters, ion exchange resins, liquid filter cartridges, and stainless steel filter membranes for the most demanding application environments.
For high purity water and critical process filtration, their Liquid Process Filter line is available with Track-etch(r) and asymetrical membranes, and high efficiency pleated and melt blown depth filter cartridges. These end cap configurations are ideal for filtration applications that require precise and repeatable depth filtration.
